2024: (The Year of The Dragon)
The Year of the Dragon is upon us. The mystical creature is at the root of many tales and has been portrayed in countless ways. These paintings are an attempt to capture as many different aspects of the creature as possible within the group. Combining a mix of Western paper, inks, and watercolours with the Asian design elements that the artist has been studying for over 15 years, as well as Sharing knowledge with oriental artists, visits to museums and temples in Japan and Taiwan and studying paintings and prints from masters of the material help with forming a large body of work that appears fresh and authentic. For those who missed the opportunity to view the series that Jordie Doubt painted for this occasion at Galerie Pellegrini in February another opportunity is here. 47 Dragons and several smaller works will be on display at Restaurant Kollektiv Hirscheneck in Basel. The exhibition will start with a Vernissage on the 28th of September and run until early November, they can be viewed during the normal operating hours. Jordie Doubt is a Canadian artist originally from western Canada who has been living in Switzerland for over 20 years. His Background as a 2d animator and work as a tattoo artist for the last 15 years has a heavy influence on his painting style. The Dragon is a strong symbol in Oriental art and tattoo art standing for wisdom, prosperity and power.
